I have to give credit to what Crash Bandicoot did. It's a 2D platformer in 3D. DKC is great but it's still just another 2D platformer

Crash 2 is nice but DKC2 is legit great.

DKC2 wins this easily for me.

Crash 2 isn't even a good game. It was an early 3d platformer. I honestly think Crash 1 pushed the genre harder, 2 has so much weird unnecessary stuff.

DK2 is a SNES masterpiece.

Ya but DKC felt more dynamic to me. Every level felt new even the ones with the same scenery and background, because some new mechanic was introduced each time. I cant remeber if Crash did that as well as DKC 1 & 2.

Crash 2 isn't even the best one, smh.

the fuck? Crash 2 is the Uncharted 2 of the series. Literally refined everything from the first game and is still very much playable

I'm gonna have to rule in favor of Crash Bandicoot 2 for having the same character as the star. It shouldn't be called Donkey Kong Country 2 if Donkey Kong isn't in it as a playable character.

I haven't played the remaster, but levels like Cold Hard Crash and Digin It are cold hard garbage. Most of the movement options are ultimately too much extra - the duck jump is unnatural and unnecessary, the slide interacts poorly with special floors (ice) and geometry (can slide INTO boxes, floors, etc), and even the body slam doesn't feel fleshed out.

The first game is a lot more punishing, but is much tighter. Sometimes you'll have to re-do a level, but you don't have to take a right-side path, go back, then take the left path. The jump physics in the first game aren't the best ever, but tighter than Crash 2. I don't see how Crash 2 is a good game outside of nostalgia. DKC2 is a decent game without nostalgia and an amazing game with it (or in contemporary context).

That's actually one of my biggest gripes about it. I don't really like Diddy at all, in fact.
