Not sure if this topic is a joke or not but sometimes I feel jealous of religious people because of how...well, damn happy and fulfilled they seem. Like no matter how shitty yor life is or how bad your career, you always have this fallback spiritual purpose for being alive.

That sounded edgier than I intended but yeah, I've never met a sad looking missionary

It isn't! I will say that the moments where they try to control your life make the thing unbearable, which was what ultimately got me to go. They tried to get me to either get married or move in with a couple of them. They pushed very hard to get me out of my family's house.

i remember this one time, i was at a book fair. i came across a section with plenty of books written by a L. Ron Hubbard. i was thinking of where i saw that name but i couldnt put my finger on it...

as soon as i remembered, this creepy old guy approached me asking if i was interested to learn more about scientology. that's when i politely told him i was just looking around then left...

i saw what they did to Tom Cruise. this shit isnt for me! >_>

I keep listening to Presbyterian and Methodist piano hymns. I want to believe in something sweet, heartwarming, and inviting of a relationship for man with God. Something. Give me something.

I was brought up in a church and I still love the hymns. Some great tunes. Carols are especially nice at Christmas, whether you believe the sentiments or not. But that wasn't a cult, just a boring Sunday service once a week.
