Does a wrist pad for the mouse really help?

My academic advisor in college had one of those mouse pads + wrist braces he wore on both hands. I dont think he had carpal tunnel or anything - he was just a huge nerd.

They can be used as a temporary stop-gap. Usually they are only needed when your desk or chair height aren't right. I wouldn't use them long term, but they can keep your hand from hurting until you get the underlying problem fixed. If everything else is set up correctly, you shouldn't need the pad.

I feel like a big part of it depends on your desk height and chair height which affects the way you move your mouse. I use one, but i think ive got a fairly high desk.

I've had my wrist hurt from extended mouse use a few times, but I think part of it was a was a kid so the desk was too high.

Hmm I think its because I rest my wrist in the edge of the table a lot. Does that mean my chair is too low?
