Killing any kind of exploration is the worst thing that came with XY and it becomes worse with every game
I was so excited to find new places when I replayed the map and used the Surf Bike....but there were like...only 3 places..and they were just a linear river with a item as a reward (well there is also the lake but still)
Words can't describe how much I am missing the feeling of getting lost in a cave, reaching deep down and finding Lugia
Or going up for Ho-Oh
BW is the last game to have non-linear exploration

I agree with you. It felt like Sword/Shield had too much story as is. I was constantly just skipping through dialogue. Luckily it was less than the previous games.

The story is a lot more toned down from previous games. It's actually the least story-focused game so far, which should please the fans that want as little story as possible.

Most of the fans don't want as little story as possible. They only want little story if the story that IS there is shit.

Give Pokemon an even half decent story and we'll be in business. Hell, that's why people love the Mystery Dungeon games a lot and they don't even have that amazing of stories, but compared to the mainlines, ESPECIALLY the last few gens... yeah
