Current Events > For the first time, me and my parents will not have turkey this Thanksgiving

Ever since my brother and relatives moved out of this house earlier this year and lived their own lives with their own family, it's just been eerily quiet with just me and my parents. So they decided what was the point in wasting money on a big turkey if we aren't going to have any company?

So now my mom just wants to get a bucket of fried chicken at KFC with some sides and maybe we'll cook spaghetti for thanksgiving.

This is the life of being a 30+ year old CEman, folks. The sad part I think was my mom decorating the Christmas tree alone while me and my dad were at work.

I'm with you man. Every year I get KFC either the Tuesday or Wednesday before Thanksgiving just in case the weather prevents me from traveling Thanksgiving Day. This year I'm heading to my mother's where she's making ribs for the two of us and a turkey breast for my stepfather. On Friday I'm heading to my dad's for a more traditional if belated Thanksgiving dinner.

This is not even that bad, having a quiet Thanksgiving changes things up, and there is no reason you cant celebrate with friends who are not going to see family or having family come see them.

A big issue is your mother decorating for Christmas already, its not even December yet.

We had 10+ people living in this house since childhood and now it's just us 3. Like I said, everyone grew up into adulthood, had kids of their own, bought their own house or moved out of state for their job, etc. The only person that's gonna be visiting is my brother but only during Christmas week.

Only my aunt, uncle and I were able to get together this year for Thanksgiving so we just said fuck it and went to Golden Corral.
