Yes. If I had to guess, I would say I accumulated more hours on that thing than any other system.

Favorite memory:

Logging way, way too many hours on Final Fantasy XI.

Nope, however I played it at my uncle's house. Balder's Gate Dark Alliance and 007 Nightfire were some of my favorites.

I was a PC player, and it always amazed me that they had an MMO on PS2. You needed the HDD to go along with it, but it was there. So many years spent playing that game.

Anyways, the predominant memory was using the money from my first job to buy the system itself. It was the first video game system that I ever purchased with my own money - the rest were gifts or trades. I bought it with FFX, and it came with ATV Offroad Fury. So many good games on it. It was the largest collection of games that I owned, until I got enough disposable income to start padding my SNES library. I still have my fat PS2 sitting on my computer desk, hooked up to a 21" CRT TV.

I had 4 because 3 of them died on me. I didn't even feel ripped off because I got so much enjoyment out of that system.

well PS2 is actually really great, so this makes up for it imo

definitely the longest lived console from my own personal experience -- I remember getting one for my birthday in 2002 with KH and FFX. My mom got it for me, but she thought our PS1 memory cards would be compatible the same way the games were. So I remember playing FFX without saves, I got like 13 hours in and died and had to restart from the beginning. I was like 12, I think I was in 8th grade.

Persona 4 was a huge experience for me. It was the first time I played an RPG, where the characters were less like a collection of people, gathered together for a like-minded adventure, and more like a group of friends who have a score to settle. That resonated hard with me, and why I hold it higher than P3 and even P5 in terms of how much I enjoyed the games. I mean, I beat it twice on PS2, then beat is twice on Vita, consecutively, to get the platinum. That's how much I enjoyed it. It's the most time I ever spent with an RPG that wasn't an MMO or a Bethesda game.

yeah, I mean, I played P4 and then right after I finished it I started another game like literally immediately after. I never finished that second save lol, but evne the fact that I started it again so fast is a huge sign of how much I liked it. I never could get into P3 the same way and I havent tried 5

Ah, the PS2. I had one. Had. I got a BC PS3, so I gave my PS2 to my dad along with a few games I didn't play anymore. It then got a disc read error a few months later.

My favorite game was definitely Kingdom Hearts II and it has some of my favorite memories associated with the PS2. My dad actually surprised me by giving me a brand new TV to play it on for my birthday. Went from a crappy, sub 20" curved TV to a flat 27" (still a big ass CRT though). I still have that TV too. I had to stop using it because it started making this high pitched whine. I could pay to have it fixed, but I think I'll just wait a few years til my hearing degrades to the point that I can't hear it. Plus, that thing weighs almost a hundred pounds and is unwieldy. It has been a legitimate factor in my decision not to move.

Summoner, Legacy of Kain, Project Eden, Without Warning, Army Men RTS, Portal Runner, Arm Men Air Combat 2, and Silent Hill 2, 3, Origins, and The Room.

Officially licensed PS1 games kept being produced until 2008. When did the well dry up for PS2?

I still regularly use my PS2. My original died years ago, but I still have a working slim from the timeframe, and a fatboy i got several years ago. Lately, I've been using it (and Dreamcast) more than current gen.
