Karate is still taught, so I dont know what you mean by karate is out of date.

I used to do ju jitsu.

its really not. i'd probably think that as well, but listening to JRE i've learned a lot of them practice forms of karate.

I like jj but I'm in the minority. You gotta remember hollywood wants to cater to the action. Flashy kicks and punches. Real fans understand the beauty of jj but the casual fan has a short attention span and 2 guys hugging it out on the floor for an hour doesn't bring in the $$.
