lets say a team punts the ball. the other team receives the ball with their kicker who then immediately punts the ball back up the field. is this legal? if not, why not?
as a follow up question, if the kicker never touches the ball, i.e. it lands on the ground and then stays in bound, could the kicker then kick the ball while its on the field to send it back up the field? --- Steam/XBL/PSN: Link43130 ... Copied to Clipboard!

Nobody would ever do this and nobody cares. while i dont disagree with the first one, i do disagree with the second and no one seems to have an answer which im going to assume means its all legal play --- Steam/XBL/PSN: Link43130 ... Copied to Clipboard!

The point of the punt is to catch the ball and punters are not the best people to be out there catching the ball.

Pretty sure as soon as you punt it, it becomes dead as soon as the punting team touches it.

I think it would be a live ball. The other team could pick it up, or his own team could grab it and kill him later. Probably a penalty of some sort for moving the ball up-field that way

No, ur not allowed to kick it again. I'm guessing they'll mark it down at that spot and possibly penalize you for illegal kick or maybe it'll be considered an illegal forward pass.

Rule 9 Scrimmage Kick
Section 1Kick From Scrimmage KICK ON OR BEHIND LINE OF SCRIMMAGE Article 1 Team A may attempt a punt, drop kick, or placekick from on or behind the line of scrimmage. Penalty:For a punt, drop kick, or placekick that is kicked from beyond the line of scrimmage or not from scrimmage: Loss of 10 yards from the spot of the kick. Note 1: This is not considered illegally kicking the ball. Note 2: The penalty for a punt, drop kick, or placekick from beyond the line is to be enforced from the spot where the ball ispunted or kicked when the players entire body and the ball are beyond the line of scrimmage. This includes either when theplayer is airborne or touching the ground. Note 3: A second kick from behind the line of scrimmage is legal provided the ball has not crossed the line. pretty sure this is the relevant rule. the second kick is illegal because it's not from scrimmage. --- Boom!
