NFL even though it's kind of a shit show right now. I never liked the imbalance of College, how a ranked team is matched up against a team with no prayer of winning and the score is 42-0 at the half, no part of that is exciting or entertaining. I also hate how there's so many bowl games, make it a playoff and have it come down to the two best teams.

The buildup and atmosphere in CFB is better.

The NFL is too flashy and commercial.

But I enjoy both.

Also it can be fun to watch HS and CFL football.

3 game playoff is boring af and has featured almost the same teams every year so far, or seems to be.

Alabama, Clemson being the most egregious offenders.

They really need to expand it to a 8 or 12 team playoff if they ever want it to be taken as seriously as the Super Bowl

Because nobody wants to see or care about anyone else.

Maybe LOLSU, UGA and LSU.

This complaint is in tension with your desire to have it come down to the two best teams. The more you expand the playoffs, the greater the likelihood of a worse team winning it all.

Alabama and Clemson have been the best two teams, though

This year, not so much

but the logic follows that if they expanded it to a 8 game playoff, the better team will (almost) always win.

Not to mention usually the top 8 to 12 are at least competitive teams that could realistically stand to win a title, typically.

Nah, college football has typically been 2 to 3 great teams and then the rest of the field. Number 5, 6, 7, 8 wouldn't typically stand a chance against 1 or 2.

Maybe it's just this year's field

LSU
Ohio State
Clemson
Georgia
Alabama
Oregon
Utah
Penn State
Oklahoma
Minnesota
Florida
Wisconsin

The top 12 from this week's rankings, and you could probably get decent games out of each of them in a playoff settings.

The most suspect teams up there are Georgia, Alabama(with Tua out), Florida and Oregon(I keep hearing things about them but I've seen literally nothing).

I just feel like it would be better for the health of the sport overall if the playoffs were expanded

High school football in select places is actually decent. Good luck finding it on tv though

Usually and naturally it's on Friday nights.

Local TV or one of the ESPN channels will toss in a game as a filler.

Go Pack Go!

Even though Wisconsin is a successful college program, I really dont care about it. The biggest problem with College Football is too many teams to follow.

I care about college more than the NFL. All of my favorite NFL players are retired in their 40s and 50s now so all I like to see are good games when I watch, no particular allegiance. Nothing will change my love of Longhorn sports, particularly football. Players come and go, coaches come and go but that passion for the burnt orange remains the same.

Yeah the power difference between the top ranked schools against a lower ranked team can often lead to lopsided games but when those upsets happen it's crazy. The atmosphere in a college game, especially a rivalry game is a lot more fun to me. Also the contrasting styles is interesting, you have more variety of offensive style on the collegiate level.
