What was so bad I liked it

I've heard that people that hadn't seen the anime tended to like it and people that had seen the anime tended to hate it.

I actually finished the movie before finishing the anime. So I fall into that category.



I had only watched maybe five episodes before watching the Netflix film. I Judy finished the anime yesterday. Maybe I'll watch the movie again but it seemed like a decent alternate story adaptation.

How's the manga

It would've been a passable standalone story. People didn't like that they made Light some geek being manipulated and acting under duress. They used the same names as the anime but changed the whole plot. Also we got chase scenes instead of mind games.

I like how the movie explored alternate territory like "what if Light actually had to find L's name" or "how would L have responded if Watari was killed" though.
