you either get the awkward tank-like blend of controls, or you get proper right stick movement but have to use the gyroscope to aim up or down

You can use the L button for the plunger and the R button for the flash. Pressing both at the same time will do the reveal mode. Makes the controls better because I agree with you that the normal controls it teaches you arent that good.
