I like it a lot. I cancelled my preorder when all the hate was going around but then read some reviews and watched some of the gameplay. I caved and got a copy for $25.

Yeah the graphics aren't great and muh dexit but I can overlook all of those things.

A lot of the new pokemon look fantastic and rolycoly has the best name of all pokemon ever.

Still I 100% believe this was a 3DS game that they ported to the switch with minimal polish. That's not keeping me from enjoying it though.

It does this weird thing when you get close to trees in the wild area where they become transparent.

Also the trees popping in are NOT as bad as people are making it out. It's only the berry trees.

The cities are p. Fuckin beautiful though.

I enjoy it. I am a casual gamer these days so I don't care about most of the issues. Dexit did bug me since most of my favorites didn't make the cut, but it finally gave me an opportunity to get a new team for the first time.

It's the first time I've used Shedinja in the game since it was introduced. It is surprisingly effective this game, as there isn't much that could kill it throughout the first half of the game.

I couldn't get past the Dexit. It's a Pokemon game so I know it was gonna be a breeze to play through, but if I can't play with my favorites (or more specifically, favorite) during the PvP portion of it (basically what made Pokemon, Pokemon, to me), I knew I wasn't gonna enjoy it.

It's a shame too because my co-workers all got the game and looking at it being played, it seems fun. Still, I've been playing with my Granbull since Gen 2; truth be told I seriously would've still got the game if they just included Granbull. People try to downplay the fact that people's favorites are excluded, but I don't give a fuck about the new Pokemon. I mean.. I do, but if I can't play with Granbull then fuck those guys too.

Yeah that's what I'm really looking forward too. I feel like GF will use the time to put all of the old pokemon back in. At least hopefully they'll have taken the critisism seriously enough to fix that and the textures.

I meant to put this in the OP but the rumors about it being too short are complete BS. The wild area is a fantastic addition to the game and caused me to take an extra 3ish hours before the 1st gym. With some small adjustments I think the wild are could be really great in future games too.

I don't think it was ever meant to be for the 3DS, they just reused the S/M engine like they did with the X/Y/OR/AS engine with Let's Go. And they still had so much trouble.

I'm thinking an enhanced version is at least 2 years off. I think they're gonna do a Johto Let's Go next year.

But yeah, the game looks cool but it was surprisingly weird how fast I went from 3 badges to 7. Shit took like 2 hours. Never been this short, but I didn't play S/M.

The lack of the day/night cycle has really been killing me especially since there's a point you get to see the first 3 towns at night and it looked amazing. I've always played Pokemon with night time, even if it meant changing the clock. The atmosphere is fucking amazing like that.

Edit: I know the cycle goes normal after the game, but I feel like it's too late by that point for me.

Got burned buying Sun and Moon, only to realize how... unfinished it felt. Then a year later ULTRA Sun and Moon came out which basically confirmed I wasted my money on an inferior product.

The game is probably still fun because it's Pokemon but...

I'll wait for the better version this time.

S&M and USUM were the only pokemon games I've ever actually hated. I hated not having real gyms. I hated the region as a whole, I hated the rivals, I hated the wormhole stuff un the ultras. At least they toned down the handholding in S&S. It's still there but it's not nearly as bad.

Also hop is annoying but I would be the same if I was the Champion's little brother and I had to live in his shadow.

$25 is where I would say the game is worth picking up. Imo, it being $60 and offering less than previous games is not really worth the money.
