Its really fucked up and really fucking bad. He a good dude but he is a real original man straight form africa. Maybe its not the norm there to use deodorants and stuff? Its really overpowering and the smell literally lingers and overtakes wherever he goes.

Whats the best way to address this? If it was me I would personally like to be told if I smelt bad but dont know how others feel about that approach. Should I get the boss to address it or should I do it more as a bro and mention it on our walk to the carpark after work or something? Its getting to the point where its a lunchroom topic.

To be fair, deodorant is mostly endemic to the North American continent. It's not really a thing elsewhere.

Some parts of Africa are very poor and deodorant is a luxury which is almost never used.
But unless the (totally real) African dude in TC's (totally real) story happened to be in whatever country TC is from (I assume it's a awestern one) for only a few days, he'd have known deodorant is a thing

Suggesting that it may be uncommon for people who lived in another country to use deodorant is nothing close to saying "People from Africa don't wear deodorant"

Shut the fuck up. You know exactly what you are trying to do.

I've lived in Africa for many years. Deodorant is just as common as it is where I currently live (Europe)

Thanks for playing.

That has literally nothing to do with you twisting his words and trying to make him sound racist. This would have actually answered what he was inquiring about instead of some bitch reply implying he's a racist.

Really? I dont know why this guy doesnt seem to wear it. If it matters he was from Kenya. And from my understanding he has been her for a few years at least. He came from a different branch. I texted my boss about how bad its been and she said she might contact his old branch to see what they did about it (I have a feeling they didnt and just lived with it since he came here smelling like this)

He isnt bad first thing in the morning but maybe an hour later it really starts. Like the stench is bad that I wouldnt want ever want to give him a ride anywhere because I am afraid it would linger and cling to my car.

Man you are reaching but I'm bored so eh

It was a stupid remark to suggest that a commodity such as deodorant isn't readily available to an entire continent

Where are the both of you getting your ridiculous assumption from?

He said that he felt like he might smell bad and asked me what I thought. I was so close to telling him yes lol

Complain to your supervisor and let them address it. They get paid to have employees unhappy with them, if you tell him it will just cause issues.

Cause you literally have to tell him or respond visually while making eye contact by spraying stuff or holding your nose.

Music peer of mine smells of literal death & none of the other studio engineers tell him. But I will next time because he tries to sit on stuff & I'm like "yo!"

There's a lot of people from there in the nursing field over here and we can't tell them to use deodorant or critique them on their hygiene because it's their culture I was told. The men are usually pretty good workers in my experience though.
