Is there any subject/concepts you felt wasn't covered as well as what your peers received in public school?

Definitely math and science. Additionally, much of the curriculum utilized was Christian propaganda and some of the more recent historical events were ... let's just say opinionated.

According to them, it was because of when my birthday fell and i would have been behind.

I was actually ready for school, though, so they opted to homeschool me.

I personally believe it was due to bullshit propaganda from my aunt and uncle who are actual cultists, but that's just me.

Well you're a nurse now. Most people who graduate a public high school don't do shit.

I guess I should ask you something:

Did you just pretty much learn what you needed or was there a lot of pointless fuck aroundery like they have in public schools/day cares?

If you had a choice to go back in time and choose for yourself, would you keep it the same or go to a public school?

I was in boy scouts with several home-schooled boys, and they were socially inept on an incredible scale. Their parents put forth very little effort to socialize their children, and used boy scouts and sports to do so. It felt really weird to me when I realized i was kinda responsible for teaching these peers how to be social.

Did you have similar problems? Did your parents make any effort to teach you how to socialize with your peers? How do you feel about that aspect in general?

Separate note - did you at all enjoy any aspects of being home-schooled?

I was allowed to go to public school because my mother was a narcissist who didn't want to put up with me/children, but for the same reason, I was forbidden from having friends over or going over to other kids' houses in most circumstances. Because of this, I'm fiercely defensive of public schooling because it was the only time I ever saw any other humans. I straight up believe homeschooling should be illegal, but I had the advantage of uncommonly spectacular, nationally-rated schools; I fully acknowledge the deliberate underfunding and sabotage of other districts.

Do you think homeschooling, as it is currently, should be permitted?

Absolutely not, no!

I think there should be special circumstances to allow homeschooling, but these should be rarities and far from the norm with frequent social welfare checks to make sure kids don't fall through the cracks.

Would you consider yourself sheltered, was there a period where you rapidly gained "real world experience", or did you just grow into being fairly well adjusted as a gradual process?

i was very sheltered

i'd say maybe around 12-13 ish i was vaguely aware of "adult" real world stuff, and had always been aware of real world issues because my parents both have chronic pain and health problems and my dad was forced to quit working when i was 6. being poor makes you grow up really fast. i also picked up on things rather quickly and started reading at 3 so i did have that going for me.

but overall no, i was thrown into college at 17 got married at 18 and god the real world just kept coming and didn't stop coming, LOL. i'm still not well adjusted and have a lot of issues irl, like social anxiety.

Sorry to hear you hated all of it. That makes sense considering what you post about your parents.

Did you ever look into getting diagnosed with BPD?

It isn't, but it could be maybe as effective if parents had the education and resources available to them to maximize educational opportunities. Huge if there.

Was gonna ask if it was for religious reasons.

Side note to ce dont ever homeschool your kids. Especially for religious reasons. Eventually they leave the nest and all you did was ensure that they got no life experience and will do all the things you tried to shelter tjem from.... but theyll do it times a thousand vs if they just grew up normally.

Thats alright. It's very important that the correct diagnosis is made. Correct tx can be pretty different for BPD. Although the best thing for my wife has been DBT, and she recommended for me and pretty much everyone. So i guess that can't hurt no matter what

Thats a thing to be proud of tbh.

I wont bother getting into it but a good friend of mine went so fucking far off the rails and I dunno if she ever came back on em.

Great girl but when a girl who looks like she did moves away from home as a literal innocent naive child it doesnt go well. She literally stole my car once while drunk and didnt get why i was mad. And also did a train but whatever that didnt affect me exceot i was sad for her.

I'm not up to the hip slang of my peers.

Did she:
-Steal a train
-Fuck a train
-Get a train ran on her, in the sexual sense
-This is a drug thing
