Like on a date, do you get annoyed if someone is spending their time looking at dumb crap on facebook instead of focusing on you and the moment?

Unless you're using your phone for an emergency or just to check something like looking something up, put the fucking thing away.

Obviously things are exception like checking in on a kid or something.

Two people at an old job went out before. Apparently the guy literally spent most of the date on his phone checking emails and responding.
How do I know this? Because I got a bunch of fucking "WHY WON'T THIS WORK" emails bitching his email wasn't working.

I think it's bad etiquette. If on a lunch/dinner date with my wife, I make it a point to sometimes not even bring the thing and just straight up leave it in the car.

The only reason they should be out on a date is if something is being looked up within the context of a conversation.

If it's interactive (like they're showing me something or w/e) that's fine, but I would feel pretty bad if they just start doing their own thing. Like they've decided I'm not worth paying attention to after all. I am pretty insecure though.

If on a date, put it away. Out with a group of friends, use it, but don't abuse it.

Even if it's not a date, I put my phone down and make eye contact when anyone starts talking to me. Unless Im playing Pokemon Go. That I can easily hold a conversation during and they're usually playing too

I saw this at the mall. Dude and his date was holding hands walking while their free hands holding their phones. The dude was on his phone while she just kept walking and looking at him.

I was at a popular ramen place and this guy was playing with his phone the whole time. In between bites and while talking to the waitress too. He never set his phone down. His girlfriend carried on if nothing was happening but I just thought "what a Philistine!".
