Tolkein didn't seem to like anything that wasn't Anglo-Saxon.

It took a couple-three reads to finally "get" The Silmarillion. It's a hard read, but it's awesome once you get past being overwhelmed by all the names and places.

And I never saw any racism in Tolkien's work. The closest is comparing orcs to The Mongols. That's bad. Other than that ehhh. People make him out to be some sort of white supremacist or something.

Not that I agree, but there's a connection in his works that white is good and black is bad.

Whether this is racism, I can't say. Tolkein lived when racism was more acceptable and some anecdotal quotes I can remember from him never mention race but he seemed to be a bit harsh on people who disagreed with him. This isn't much evidence but I can't rule it out.

Usually it's stuff like "how come all the good guys are white while all the bad ones aren't?" but even Tolkien addresses this like Sam's thoughts on the dead soldier about how maybe those men under Sauron's sway may actually not be bad people and we're tricked or forced into fighting for him.

And the "good" "white" guys also fell under Sauron's sway at one point also. The whole legend of Numenor's end comes from that.
