It's always been a stupid show, but the gimmick was amusing in 2015, when the first season came out.

Madhouse understood that the novelty was gone, which is why they passed on Season 2.

Now that the novelty has run out, it's clearer that it's always been a shitty show. It doesn't deserve Madhouse's talent anymore, so Season 2 gets shit animation and art like most every anime. Why is this stupid series still going? End it already.

I didn't watch Season 2, but I got caught up on the manga at some point, then it went through this awful tournament arc and never got much better after and I just dropped it. I don't think it's very popular here, because I never hear anyone talking about it.

Yea, it's trash, Mob Psycho is slightly better, I'm just glad the author realized this already and is going back to being a salary man instead of a no talent manga author.

Yeah that tournament was fucking trash. The biggest problem with the manga is that it adds so much pointless shit that wasn't even in the original webcomic. The current arc takes that problem and increases it several fold with all these added fights involving side characters. Apologists call it world building, but world building is trash when it doesn't advance the plot or narrative in any way.

The only thing the manga has going for itself is Murata's top notch artwork. But why should such talent be wasted on such a shitty story? You're better off just reading the web comic; much better pacing, and with such deliberately half assed art, it doesn't pretend to be better than it really is as much.

season 2 had a bad animation studio, the characters and story were good. garou is awesome and so is king.

the manga gave us a better take on the metal bat and elder centipede fights. like wow, the sense of struggle just is not there in the anime.

I'm enjoying S2 less than S1 and that's mostly cuz it's just not really focusing on Saitama very much. The whole point of the show is lampooning superhero shows, by having a guy explode shit with a single punch. He's barely fought anything, like 5 episodes in, and instead it's presenting itself as a serious, in-depth plotline, but like ssjevot said, is making it a soulless My Hero Academia.

I'm hoping things will pick up after this stupid tournament arc. It's frustrating to have all the tension be about these monsters wreaking havoc while Saitama is dickin around in a tourney for reasons I don't even remember being explained lol.

That SAID, I still do like it and wouldn't call it terrible.
