I have a HUGE test coming up. But I have an insane amount of information I need to retain.

Right now Im basically rewriting my study book in simpler words; my own words. I know that helps.

What are your study/memorization techniques?

i just read the relevant chapters in the textbook long before the exams, and write down anything that's key but hard to remember in detail (formulas or whatever). sometimes it helps to have a few pages at the front or end of your notebook specifically for writing formulas/theorems/principles, etc.

try to read to understand, not read to memorize, and try to understand things as early as possible in the course as you can, not late in the course. just make yourself an expert on the topic, using the textbook and class as resources to help accomplish that.

This is a little hard to do given what Im studying.

try to read to understand, not read to memorize, and try to understand things as early as possible in the course as you can, not late in the course. just make yourself an expert on the topic, using the textbook and class as resources to help accomplish that.

Now THIS is a lot doable.

Ah, I am very much inexperienced in those kinds of subjects. I do not think my study techniques will help very much.

Yes. Thank you for that. I retain it better.

I knew this but actually saw its powerful effect earlier this year when I failed 20 times at a Sekiro boss, went to bed, and then woke up to immediately beat it in one shot. My brain had processed and memorized his attacks in my sleep.

Study in 2 hour sessions. Take 15 minute breaks inbetween. Turn off everything that would be a distraction.

Break down everything that needs to be studied into manageable parts. Focus first on what is most important (i.e.: whichever topic is worth the most points; you don't want to spend a whole day studying something that is only worth 10% of your grade).

Set timers, so you don't spend too much time on one thing (15 minute intervals works really well for me).

Be organized. Tab your books. Color code topics. Etc.
