Because they take power away from the corporation/government/whatever and put it into the hands of the worker. At least 'ideally'.

Because they're anti-capitalist, favor union party members based on tenure rather than achievement, and are often compulsory if you want to work at a place with a union.

Unions are needed to stop corporate greed and exploitation. Unions also help keep lazy and incompetent workers in the way. We need something in the middle.

A good management team plus union is incredible. You feel safe, most people work hard and management has a lot of pull and freedom with their workers. Management can deal with the lazy workers and the union can deal with any problem the worker may have.

Because theyre a literal gaggle of thugs who sit back and take money from people, yet do next to nothing for them. And then they intimidate employees who want to actually work during a strike.

Not all.
Just got a pay raise. I also have a pay dispute they are about to solve. I know my managers wouldn't have tried this hard.
I also get quite a few discounts on stuff.
