I just got weapons that can fight BTs so my main stress in that game has been calmed down a bit. I'm loving the gameplay loop, I'm loving upgrading my star ratings with people. I'm enjoying the paths being built by people. The like system.

I am fucking shocked I like it this much. The story telling is also peak Kojima nonsense which is fun as hell to watch.

How is the hiking and traversing compared to MGSV? Do you have access to a vehicle early to avoid all the walking or is that an unlockable feature?

i watched someone play a few mins on twitch and it was like 90% him trying to get a motorcycle to go over tiny rocks and then 10% cheesy expository dialogue, this still feels to me like the emperor's new clothes of video games

Get to ch 3 and dont worry too much about doing most of the sidequests (like the 30 min timed one). You'll be able to come back, the game kinda psyches you out about it.

Almost done with ch2 myself and im enjoying it.

The story is nuts in a good way, and the controls are a lot smoother than they look in videos.

I'm at chapter 4 now. It's a shame this game is so easy to meme (lol walking simulator, lol a Hideo Kojima game) but explaining what makes this game so great and special is so hard. The gameplay is more gripping than the story to my surprise and if he toned down on the goofy characters and plot this game could of been Kojima's Shadow of the Colossus.

And god damn it I love my BB. Whenever he starts to cry from a fall or loud gunshot I feel incredibly guilty and when he laughs he makes happy and feel at ease. He is the best character and makes me wanna get a fake vagina.

Yeah getting the weapon to fight bts is a big jump forward in making it actually fun. All I can say is if it wasnt a hideo game I would have quit, I'm interested in the story. I'm probably more leaning to hating the gameplay. Having to constantly lean back and forth is tedious not fun. And having to always hold l2 and r2 to move without the lean is not really a solution

I didn't really like the gameplay until Ch 3. Now I'm loving it. Now that I have more options than walking slowly it's legit fun. Always leaning back and forth or crouch walking was terrible.

The story is standard Kojima stuff where a cool visual has a bunch of techno babble written around it go justify it being a thing. I knew what I was getting into and I like it.

Yeah the beginning part is actually the most frustrating part because you haven't unlocked all the cool gadgets yet. But I like that the game punishes you for taking on too much. The risk/reward of carring a lot and then having to hunker down with the shoulder buttons is a great gamified penalty for it. Frustrating sure, but engages you on the difficult journey.

Is it a fun experience? It has such mixed reviews and I havent been hooked by any footage. I havent followed the game very closely, though.

And while I have you here (your tag says moderator, so I assume you can help or advise), is using the follow feature to accuse a user of being an alt considered harassment or bullying within this sites rules? Not that its much of an issue. I just would rather not use the block feature for an issue that can be resolved with communication.

Same though I'm right about to hit chapter 3. I truly can't explain how enjoyable the game is without it sounding like it's the least enjoyable game ever. It's fucking wild. I love it, though.

I'm on chapter 2, it's been interesting so far. Though I really hope they explain what some of these terms are a bit more. ("The Beach", chiral-something, etc). I'm early in so I'm assuming they will gradually reveal stuff as the game goes on.

Nah, he might have some interesting things to say from time to time. I like Death Stranding because it doesn't have 21 years of lore / character development behind it.

Pay attention from the first few cut scenes onward, and enjoy the ride. Or, just hate it because it isn't for you.

Either way, the game moves forward relatively quickly.

I think I'll play it when it goes to PC. It does seem to be a game where I need to be in the right headspace to play it but it sounds unique enough where I think I'll like it well enough. Primarily depends on if the missions feel rewarding but the community stuff sounds like it goes a long way to adding a lot of unique stuff that wouldn't otherwise be there.

If you just do the story stuff you can probably do it before hitting the 5 hour mark. Took me 8 because I was dicking around with the side quests. the game makes it kinda ambiguous so I'll say it, not really a spoilers, but you can go back and do those side quests at any time.

I'm asking because in MGS for example I just rushed the main missions and it was obvious then since you had to pick them, side stuff were literally called side-ops

I'm talking about completing side missions you haven't picked up yet in that first area. The game makes it seem like you wont be coming back with one dialogue line but you will be.

Story advancement usually means you're going in a direction you havent been before. So if you go to an area outside of the Chiral Network that's probably a story mission.

But ch3 *spoilers for gameplay mechanics* introduces road paving, fast travel (allowing you to go to the first area) and vehicle blue prints that makes doing the ch2 side quest less time consuming and more fun imo.

So this is CEs unofficial Death Stranding topic now right?

Yesterday I had fun raiding MULE camps and postboxes then driving around building highways for all of yous. How are people dismissing this as just a walking sim? Did they even play it?

This game is also a screen capture game. The world is beautifully designed and I like it when you're on a story mission and you see a straight shot ahead of you and the the camera pans out and music starts playing. So relaxing~~
