The way they talk, the immediately try to make it about themselves. Example that literally just happened:

Person 1: "Hey I had a car accident on the weekend so I've just organised a hire car etc, I'll keep you up to date with when I have to drop my car off"
Person 2: "Oh man when I had my car accident it was horrible"
Person 3: "Yeah my sister had an accident a couple of months ago, the insurance claim was a terrible experience for her"

Every story goes like this. Nobody actually listens to each other, they just wait for their turn to talk and make it about themselves.

Everyone does it. Some form or another. Some just like to run their mouths. Being in the office and with women, yeah, making yourself one up each other is the norm. "My wedding cost us 20k!" "Well, we went to the moon." "I rented Jupiter for our honeymoon."

You know what's better than that? Listening to the person and just letting them talk and tell their story in full first and waiting for them to finish, and asking them questions about it to show that you are listening.
