I can see why people do, it gives an outlet for pretty much any subject imaginable. I remember my bud showing me there's a subreddit specifically for well-lit photos of the teeny amount of thigh that shows between a short skirt and long socks (there's a word for it, something Japanese, I don't remember)

Like, not just the teeny amount of thigh that shows between a short skirt and long socks, but specifically well-lit photos of it.

Otherwise everything else about it (voting system, cascading comments to no end, general format for discussion) really sucks.

Depending on the subreddit, you might get some more posting freedom than on gamefaqs. Adult stuff, some nsfw stuff, dark humour, and many other things are accepted in most subreddits without having to wonder if you have to censor your comment to appease the mods or ToS.

Of course, if you behave like an asshole and insult everybody, they will ban you too. So just going there doesn't mean you can post anything you want.

Reddit is way better for reading about subjects that youre interested in. Gamefaqs is better for arguing and shitposting.

People knock discussion on reddit, but I legit think some people just like to argue. And with the vote system, you always run the risk if being on the downvote end if you want to be confrontational. That's why gamefaqs has a lot of garbage imo. Sometimes a legitimate topic is flooded with back and fourths and you have to actually sift through the crap.

I prefer reddit. Less restrictions. Sure it's got its hive mind problems but if you get banned you can just make a new account immediately and the odds of a mod taking the steps to report an account for ban evasion are very slim

Eh. Yea but gamefaqs mods can see your Alts. Only reddit Admins can see that info. When you've got a sub with over half a million people the chances of a mod figuring out who you are is slim to none unless you admit it.
