It's nice to have around, for snap shots, and some good ones as well. I use a digital camera when I go backpacking because I don't to risk having my phone out all the time in case it gets damaged or stolen.

The point and shoot is probably all but dead. The DSLR is still thriving as new tech comes out and for some reason, the insta print cameras are making a come back.
