The generation isn't to blame.

The destruction of the one income family and wage disparity destroyed everything.

How about the generation who got shipped over to Europe against their will in order to spend months or years at a time cold and wet until they died--if they were lucky, from bullet fire, but more commonly from diseases?

I think they have us beat.

As a generation? No, not yet. The hopelessness doesn't really set in until you realize you just didn't want to do the work back then, and you still don't, but now you want to learn how to hunker down and do it anyway like an adult, only there isn't anyone left to teach you.

Isn't that millennials?

I think we'll start to see more of them arriving there in a few years, but for most I think it hasn't really hit home yet.

That's not specific to any generation since baby boomers, and maybe even before. That's life in a capitalist first world country. Everyone that isn't independently wealthy will feel the burn of reality; that most of us will be forced to work to our death unless we accumulate a retirement ourselves. Boomers will probably be the last generation to see retirement via the social security that we all pay into, unless something is reformed. It sucks, but yeah, do it yourself. Nothing worse than feeling hopeless about something but never trying to change it.
