How the game works is that you recruit various demons you fight as you go through dungeons and stuff and collect a team, just like pokemon. Well one of the bosses is a rival summoner and he gives you the option to fight him one on one without another human party member helping you. If you decline, he calls you a pussy and he summons some generic high level demon to fight you >_>

But if you accept, he summons the exact same team you have, including all the demons on your bench. So it becomes this strategy where you have to exploit the same weaknesses in your own team on his side while protecting them on your side since he'll do the same to you.

Of course you can cheese it by bringing 1 super weak demon and just using your summoner to do heavy sword or gun attacks on the boss and that 1 demon, but that takes the fun out of the fight >_> I kinda wish more games would utilize something like this. It's a really cool mechanic to fight a boss with.

I know they came out with a translation finally, however I don't think I can play it on the platform with the English.

Yeah, Soul Hackers is awesome. It is a little dated, but it has a lot of charm and the atmosphere basically "if 90s was cyber-punk" >_>

The 3DS version plays better and faster imo, but you do you.

The 90s idea of what the future looked like has such a weirdly endearing quality.
