Persona 5 Royal just launched in Japan. A brand new copy is 10,000 yen so it's roughly $90 here in the United States. Not sure what AtlusUSA will do so we'll have to wait and see. The game has also launched with a lot of day one DLC. So far, guest battles featuring protagonists of P3 and P4, costume packs for the new character named Kasumi, and Joker's Ultimate persona are among the DLC you can buy or will be able to buy eventually. It is worth noting that the costume packs for Kasumi are sold separately.

This all comes out to roughly 15,000 yen or $140 in U.S. currency so far. It is worth noting that all previously owned DLC from the original Persona 5 can be repurchased for a very low amount of 10 yen which is less than 10 cents in the States, I believe. However, in Japan, you can only buy the original DLC for those prices during the first two weeks after launch. Meaning on November 14, all the original DLC will return to regular pricing. More DLC is planned to be announced for the future. Atlus is playing 4D chess because they did not mention this tidbit until very recently for Japanese players. Japanese players seem to be very upset about the pricing so far for this game.

As for the game itself, people are still marathoning it so we don't know just how much as truly been changed yet. There are a lot of conflicting reports but I'm sure someone will have the game done soon. A Japanese streamer is already at the Casino palace.

Altus and other small japanese companies have been doing this for a while. Sucks to see them do it but this shouldn't be suprising.

Yeah, that DLC is disgusting. They've been doing that shit for a while with the Dancing games and Q.

Also, they literally have every SMT series BUT Digital Devil Saga. What the actual fuck! >_> That's the one with the best music

Its pretty scummy and Im disappointed.

However, itll be god knows how long until the next persona, so I dont have any issue with waiting five years and seeing what it looks like at that point.

You don't even get to access the major additional content until the third semester. Meaning Kasumi doesn't even join the party until the new palace. The entire game is essentially the same with around 10 hours added on after December. There's no reason why this shouldn't have been a DLC expansion.
