Because a lot of women don't know what they really want or are greedy and want a bit of everything without compromise. No matter if it's foolish and only makes things more complicated and difficult for themselves and the people in their lives. Basically feminist values.

Seems like a universal thing and not a gendered thing but what do I know

Yeah, it is more of a universal thing, but TC asked about women, so part of my message was in that context. Still feminist values essentially tell women to never settle for less than everything.

Women like persistence from someone they find attractive.
They don't like it from someone they find unattractive.

It's generally the same deal for men. Hot guys dodge awkward she-beasts all the time...

The funny thing about telling others to take the high road is how often it's hypocritical advice.

It has more to do with the person's perception of you. The only difference between someone being charming or someone being creepy is how they are perceived.

If they think you're hot, they want you to pursue them.

If they think you're not, they don't want you to pursue them.

Yeah, but a great deal of the time appearance is the reason for those perceptions. Halo Effect, largely. The tendency to angelicize (is that even a word?) or demonize someone based entirely on their appearance. You can make a really good or really bad first impression that sticks around, but typically it's just looks.

I've seen some shit at places I've worked, lol. Like a good looking dude making offhand remarks about not entirely consensual anal gets a "teehee" basically, while all this greasy looking dude did was say a girl's new haircut looked great, and he got berated by the entire female staff (not to his face, they just all talked shit behind his back about how creepy it was). The guy was otherwise a friendly and funny dude, he wasn't even trying to hit on her. Even I got the "nice haircut" comment once lol.

It's sad but that's life I guess.

Yep. Nobody said it was fair or that everyone has an even playing field.
