I beat the gamecube version of this game a lot.

I found a new appreciation for it playing the HD version. Really just soaked in and savored the atmosphere. It helps that everything isnt washed out.

Hero Mode is a great example, though, of the importance of designing a game around its intended difficulty. Its not satisfying at all when the only change is a lack of hearts and increased damage, lol. The only thing that changes is that you actually use the potion shop. >_>

Still contend that the game has really fun dungeons.

It used to be so muddy you couldn't really see stuff like a heart piece in Hyrule Field without already being right up on it

I suppose I should preface this by saying I only played it on Wii

The Wii controls aren't fun. The waggle sword especially feels really bad

And then one of the main collectibles (poes) can only be found at night, and there's no way to change time of day (why? Ocarina had this exact side quest, and you could change time of day on command)

And all the chests have rupees, but the largest wallet only held like 1000 or something, and you put rupees back in the chest when you couldn't hold them all (a deliberate back step from Wind Waker, where you could hold 5000 rupees)

They're small things, but they make the part I enjoy about Zelda (exploration and discovery) a giant pain in the ass

Hero mode makes the game so great. And it's nice to have the camera control / mirrored world compared to the Wii version. Plus the small improvements like faster climbing (thank GOD) really help it.

Nice, I thought the addition of it in both TP and Wind Waker were great. Some don't like how it is balanced, but I thought it made the experiences a lot better. You had to actually use rupees to buy potions and actually use that bird thing in TP to leave dungeons to head back to town to prep more. I loved it. Plus, I actually saw the game over screen in Wind Waker which could never be done before due to how piss easy it is!

2nd favorite 3D Zelda with my favorite Dungeons in the series. Though I wish they fixed the Wolf Link combat in the remake.

Twilight Princess is one of my favorite Zelda games. I just really would have liked if there was more to do in Hyrule Field and that the enemies did more damage and had smarter AI.

It probably won't happen. Besides the Wii needs a few quality exclusives to call it's own to keep it from being a absolute failure. Super Mario 3D World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Twilight Princess HD, Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3 and Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water are really all it has left.

Yeah it is. But I really don't want me Wii U to become completely irrelevant. Even if it does have Wii backwards compatiblity.

I never got it since it didn't seem to differentiate enough from the original (as opposed to TWWHD), but if it were ever ported to the Switch, I might nab it.

Solid Zelda title but nowhere near my favorite. Also, I only ever played it on the Wii, so I'd like to play the "true" version someday, with left-handed Link and the non-reversed overworld.

Also fun fact, in my very first playthrough way back when, I fell victim to the infamous "cannon room" glitch. Had to reset my entire game. I was devastated.

I'd prefer it if they focused on making the Switch the best it can possibly be, rather than holding on to old, outdated consoles, but that's just me

You could think of it the opposite way. This means you don't need a Switch still, because I own most of the games that are available on the Switch (clearly not the exclusives and 3rd party ports, but a lot of the Wii U games are relatively unchanged on Switch). Shit, I still play Mario Kart 8 daily on the Wii U and have no issues finding full rooms to play in. And me nor my fiance need to spend $20 a year (lolol) on Nintendo online for this.

I thought the Wii controls were fine except for one area where they were downright awful. That would be the annoying flying section on the Kargarok. The first time I played the game that's where I stopped because I absolutely loathed that section. Went back and beat it years later.

I guess flying sections were just bad across all Wii games though because I hated the ones in Super Mario Galaxy 2 as well.
