Just sat in one spot for 5 minutes because 2 kids had to get off the bus. Traffic backed up, blocking an intersection in front of and behind the bus. Traffic light camera went off a couple times due to this, those ppl are now gonna have to go to court to contest bullshit tickets and still pay a court fee.

How about instead of this insane bullshit we just teach kids not to run into fucking traffic

School buses today: Little Timmy is still brushing his teeth. Bus Driver blocks traffic waiting for Little Timmy to finish up, walk outside, and take his sweet old time getting into the bus. Also, before the lights turn off, Timmy's Mom has to have a conversation with the bus driver.

Yeah, if I don't leave for work right on time I'll get stuck by a bus and they just sit around forever waiting, and even once the kid gets on they sit there a while and not let traffic move.

most of the time, you can tell if you can clear an intersection, yeah. People who willingly block the box are such asses. There have been times, though, where the traffic just suddenly stops and I was caught in the middle of the intersection. So, in this situation, unless the topic creator KNEW the bus had a stop coming up, how is he expected to know he can't make the intersection?

Whenever traffic is crawling and we're approaching an intersection I increase my following distance just incase this happens. I learned how to drive in NYC so I'm used to it. You see that shit happening all the time

Seriously. Sometimes there's some extra circumstances at work where people can get caught in the middle by accident or not thru their own fault.

To be clear: I've been the victim of people blocking the box many, many times. People who just see green and go "it's my right to block an intersection" are so ignorant. Same with driveways and such when you're sitting in traffic.

As a kid, most of us had to walk a bit to get to the bus stop, this cut way down on the amount of stops the busses had to make.

Now, it seems that every mombie bitches to the school system so their little angel can get picked up right at their front door, turning that one stop into 10 or 15 individual stops.

Or, in the event that there is a bus stop, the parents all sit there in their cars, blocking traffic because their kids are too special to stand outside at the stop in a group.

It wouldn't be so bad if there weren't so many restrictions on where the bus can actually stop. It has to be on a public road, so for example if it has to pick up kids at an apartment complex, the bus can't pull into the parking lot to do that. It has to stop traffic across the 4 lane highway going past the apartment complex in order to let kids on.

I have one one my route to work that actually pulls over into the turn lane leading into the apartment complex, completely out of the road with the door facing the grass, but two lanes of traffic are still expected to stop for it. Absolutely no kids have to cross the road to get there.

When you have a vehicle with such a huge engine stopping every hundred feet, thats burning taxpayer money and buses are a massive inconvenience to everyone.

In middle school our bus driver was mad at one of the kids on my stop so she just sped past us with her middle finger up.

Is this a schoolbus that stopped in the intersection, or that stopped at the intersection and traffic flowing the opposite way had to stop because there's no median?
Do people ITT realize that southbound traffic has to stop for a bus traveling northbound if there's no median (in my state)?

I drive a school bus for a living.

Still works the same way unless we can see the kid coming up to the stop at pull time.
