instead of swallowing. i have no idea why the fuck i did this. 50 mg of amitriptyline which is my prescription, but my tongue is now completely numb. like i cant fucking feel it and none of the taste receptors are working. i put a piece of chicken on my tongue and felt slight pressure, but that's it. it's like trying to taste chicken with your hands...

this isn't dangerous is it? it's been 4 hours

can you actually OD your tongue?

i've tried to google this shit but nothing is online about chewing amitryptaline

It's not on this list of oral drugs you shouldn't crush before taking:
https://www.ismp.org/recommendations/do-not-crush
So I doubt anything new or permanent is gonna happen. I'd bet money on it

Some drugs can indeed be absorbed through the mouth walls or under the tongue (medical lingo is buccal or sublingual), so worst case you've gotten a unremarkably-different dose than if you swallowed it whole
Depends how much is absorbed or loss in the mouth/tongue to saliva, etc. compared to stomach/intestines to acid, etc.

Depends on whether it's an extended release medicine.

The big problem with TCAs is cardiac arrhythmias (and anticholinergic stuff).

There's an antidote for TCA overdose, btw. You should probably get checked out at an ED.

a lot of medicine can cause a numbing effect on the tongue, although it could be the particles are still stuck there and you need to vigorously brush and rinse
