TL;DR

NPCs won't be out until 1st quarter 2020, they're introducing private servers (some are speculating that you need to pay for access), and they're adding more non-cosmetic MTX to the ecosystem.

It provides a steady source of income for Jim Sterling, who will probably have a video out about this before the weekend is over.

Ah, Sterling, that's right. Although if Bethesda doesn't drop the ball he can always make another video pretending he doesn't have some kind of weird crush on Randy Pitchford.

Im currently playing the game right now. The most fun is when its you and several others participating in the events or taking down the final boss & its waves of enemies.

The solo missions can just be a bore though and part of the blame is because most of them are not issued by an NPC you can talk to, theyre just handed to you by automated voices that will speak through the pip-boy radio.

Its very much devoid of life. The NPCs already in the game are vendors except for like two or three. Aside from giving you missions theyll speak a random line of dialogue every time you press to talk to them.

Its a great map, theres plenty of interesting locations, new creatures & enemies. Its a shame they didnt do more with it to begin with.

76 has got to be the biggest letdown for me in recent video game history. Im a huge Bethesda fanboy, but fuck I cant explain how unappealing that game is. The biggest draw of these games is having a massive, self contained world to explore and they decide to switch over to online camp building? The hell?

Bruh, Bethesda can't even put a glorified weapons / armor pack out on time anymore - all of their new Creations that were supposed to be out last month got pushed back to December. God help me I actually let myself get hyped for the Golden Saints / Dark Seducers pack.

None of us will live long enough to see Elder Scrolls 6 actually get released.

Pretty much this.

Fallout has never really had super deep stories, to me what draws me to the series is the setting and the personalities you find in it. I wouldn't defend 76 because it has basically none of that, but I've never gotten the blind love of NV for example.

Pretty much this. Skyrim is their magnum opus, and all it is is just a cycle of exploration, looting, and killing things. The stories aren't that incredibly deep or well-crafted. One of the worst quests in the game has you seeking out a set of 24 stones, with each individual Stone acting as a quest item. You can't remove Quest items from your inventory, so you're lugging around half pound weights until you can find all 24 of the stones. Wouldn't be nearly so bad if Bethesda, in their Infinite Wisdom, decided that these Stones didn't need their own individual Quest markers.

Tbf, quest items don't weigh anything. So they just take up space and are a bitch to find. Especially if they happen to get knocked aside in a fight.

The stones are weird... Before you identify them they're listed as Unusual Stones and DO stack. Once they are swapped to Stone of Barenziah they no longer stack. But at that point you can actively advance the quest ahead of time by spamming the 'take' button on an identified stone. This can be handy since some of them are tied to questlines, such as the one in the Archmage's Quarters at the College of Winterhold or in the Darkbrotherhood Sanctuary.

I play with mods, but I don't like mods that change a core aspect of the gameplay, even for quality of life merit. I'll add lore-friendly gear and some texture packs, but that's about it. The most comprehensive mods I have are Immersive College of Winterhold and Apocalypse.

One of my biggest regrets in my time with modding Skyrim is not getting into Ordinator until about a year ago. Like Apocalypse does with magic, Ordinator shows you just how bland and uninspired the vanilla perks are, and just how radically the game can improve when someone with talent and imagination works their magic on the system.

I wouldn't consider Thunderchild as essential as Apocalypse and Ordinator, but I'd still highly recommend it; some of the new shouts are fantastic.

I just don't want to start a game with mods that change core aspects of gameplay, then have something happened to those mods and effectively render my current playthrough inoperable. That's why I don't want to get things like perk rebalancing tools, even though they're probably 10 times better than the vanilla perks.

I mean, I get where you're coming from, but you really don't have to worry about this with Ordinator. Enai is constantly keeping their mods updated and supported, even on Beth.net. To my knowledge, none of the CC updates have negatively impacted Ordinator, and since it's available on XB1, I have to assume it doesnt require the script extender to function.

The only real flaw I've found with Ordinator is that a select few perks either stop working or start activating funny after a long enough time of having them. This is a vanilla bug that Ordinator can't fix, which similarly affects vanilla perks like Shield Charge and the dual-wielding speed boost. If you're worried about this, try to avoid Ordinator perks that add complicated auto-activators, like 'If you stand still for six seconds, your bows do extra damage.' Stick to perks that either offer constant stat boosts, or powers/abilities that you manually activate. But even then, the absolute worst thing that can happen is that the perk no longer functions properly; it won't otherwise affect gameplay. Even if a malfunctioning perk starts irritating you, just beat Dragonborn, respec the tree, and be rid of it (making the skill Legendary is another option). Ordinator has a lot more branches per perk tree, and most branches have a connected sub-theme; you don't often have to get through multiple perks you don't need / want just to get to the one perk you do.

My reasons were slightly different than your own, but I too used a handful of reservations I had as an excuse to ignore Ordinator for several years. Trust me, it was a huge mistake and waste of playtime to do so.

You are fearing something that is almost likely never going to happen if you do proper mod installation. And fixing a bug is hardly "overhauling" anything so dramatically as you seem to be implying.

Funnier still is that you can fast forward 1,000 days to Fallout 4 and that same damn glitch is present for perks like Pain Train. You could have done a literal telling of 1,001 Nights and that bug was never fixed by Bethesda.
