Psych doctors will make you fill like 4 of these out before you talk to them and then just ram whatever pill down your throat that they choose based on a tally that is subjective

I scored 40 on this and I wonder if I should take some kind of official test to know for sure.

I got 21 which indicates few or no traits associated with autism. I'm surprised, because for p much my whole life a lot of people have been telling me I seem autistic

1) most people aren't experts at Autism
2) if the person who knew you the best/longest in the world filled this test out based on how they see you act then the results could be wayyy different.

It is hard to judge yourself when you ARE yourself. You have a certain image you think you present to the world when it is in fact maybe something different.

That is why I hate tests like these. I know I have mild aspergers, that has been established by experts in the field. Autism is one of those disorders that make people ambiguous to how they act, kinda like Sheldon Cooper type people who are dorky/aspergers but either don't know or don't care.

It feels weird having to censor an illness, just to be sure that the mods don't get me.

Usually they won't if you aren't using it as an insult, but I was warned for a few days when I noted that an article posted in a topic mentioned that rates of it are relatively higher among trans people and that I'd heard that before.

The mod noted that the claim was baseless and offensive. All I did was say I'd heard rates of A*tism was higher among trans people and wondered if it could contribute to feelings of gender dysphoria and if that could lead to some of the false-positives that the article was talking about.

It isn't even baseless, since I looked into it again and found several articles mentioning the finding in studies. From Forbes, Slate, etc.

But mods here are super trigger happy and unforgiving about trans stuff.

Where does one get diagnosed?

One of the universities in the area had a branch of their psychology department that did screening and diagnosis. Just Google "autism testing" or something to find places in your area. A doctor and a grad student inrerviewed me, observed, and gave me some assessments (written or otherwise) over the course of several appointments. They ask loved ones some question and also have them to fill out a test like in this topic to get an outside perspective.
