TC is right, though. Censorship of history due to modern sensitivities is pathetic. Its not woke or progressive. Its actually weakening our society as a whole to try to somehow forget the past and hide it as if its some kind of righteous crusade.

People want to tear down statues of assholes because they were assholes. The same reason they tore down statues of Hussein, Stalin, and Hitler. No one is burning books or "erasing history." But maybe don't have a holiday or statue for a guy that raped, robbed, tortured, and killed natives for gold and God.

Problem isn't just with remembering mistakes. That doesn't seem to be the real issue. The real issue is when people stop caring about their fellow man, future generations, the planet and the greater good in general and resort to doing bad things for personal gain and instant gratification. Not to say all of mankind should be concerned with directly aiding each other on a personal level, but if things were just a bit better, this world could be a hell of a lot better than it is now.

It already does feel that way doesn't it? For every step forward humanity takes in the name of progress, we take a seemingly immeasurable amout backwards due to the stupidity and ignorance of some in power. Pretty much makes me feel as if we are eventually doomed to destroy ourselves. Despite the futility of it all I'd hope that most would want to leave this planet as good as it was when they came into it though to prolong things as much as possible.
