More than 2000 people attended an 80 y/o Florida Veteran's Funeral because they didn't want him to be buried alone...but Dailymail has learned that the man DID in fact have next of kin..2 SONS whom he WALKED OUT on years ago with his ex wife when they were just TEENAGERS!!

Edward Pearson did in fact have 2 sons as it was revealed he walked out on them and their mother when they were just teenagers as the family did not know of his passing until the day before October 1st service and by that time, the funeral home had already invited the public to attend stating he had no immediate family.

Liz Pearson, Edward's ex wife says the family found out too late to make arrangements to travel to Sarasota and said they would have attended if they had known sooner but he has been estranged from his family for years after walking out on them and they were not informed of his passing

It is not known why he walked out on her and the sons but they have not spoken for many years even though they are grown

His obituary went viral when a funeral director included this sentence "This veteran has no immediate family and all are welcome to attend"

News of that went out in the open as the funeral was held at Sarasota National Cemetery when word spread fast and wide in veterans forums and on social media as CNN Host, Jake Tapper and US Sen. Marco Rubio tweeted the information...

Pearson was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Florida 25 years ago and worked at a grocery store and hardware store as one woman in the community got to know him after Hurricane Irma in 2017

He tried to get government assistance on his mobile home when the storm damaged it but Patty Thrasher said he didn't actually own the home at all as the man who sold him the home wasn't actually the owner but a swindler who took advantage of the elderly

Pearson at the time didn't want to be on the news at all and was hesitant to ask for help because he didn't want a "hand out" and was preparing to move before he died.
