If you impeach trump, Pence becomes president for now....and someone besides trump runs for president in 2020.

Yeah, Pence. And Pence doesn't have a shot in hell of getting elected.

Also, you if you just let the president get away with straight up treason, future presidents will do it to. It's important to show that presidents aren't above the law, and will be held accountable.

Impeaching him would be a mistake at this point I think. Just don't re-elect him.

Why's that?

Because some illiterate hillbilly dudes with Mama Junes body type will rise up and cause mild disorder half a dozen times before all collapsing from heart failure.

Because everything to this point has been a lie, making Trump look good and the other party appear desperate. Going back to what I said about them not actually doing any work, it's pretty much handing Trump another 4 years.

What are you talking about?

Trumpers seem to believe that an unpopular president being impeached will somehow make him more popular.

Especially when the track record of presidents being impeached or a potential impeachment has led to them resigning and being less popular. Nixon was one of the most popular presidents ever before his impeachment his 2nd election gave him a commanding 520 electoral votes over his opponent who had 17 and on top of that Nixon won with roughly 18 million more votes. That sure didn't save him from the threat of impeachment as he resigned shortly after Watergate was discovered.

Dems have been passing literally hundreds of bills that sit and die on Mitch McConnell's desk.

The "they do nothing" myth is just right-wing ignorance.

Reminder that every news outlet poll said Hillary was going to become president guaranteed.

Reminder that this isn't true and never was.

Most reputable polling outfits had Hillary at a ~65-75% chance of winning the presidency. Factoring in margin of error, three outcomes to the election were statistically reasonable: a narrow Trump victory, a narrow Clinton victory, or a Clinton landslide.

We got the former. Trump's margin was narrow and most people don't appreciate how close it truly was. In a country with an electorate of more than 100 million people, it came down to fewer than 100k people spread across three states that ultimately decided the election. If less than one tenth of one percent of the electorate - a crowd small enough to fit in a football stadium - changed their vote, Clinton would have taken it. That's how close it was. It was the tightest election of the last 50 years, with the sole exception of the Bush Jr. elections.

Much like the above, everyone that says, "All the media and polls were completely wrong, because they said Clinton had a 99% of winning!" probably weren't actually looking at the polls and are just repeating what right-wing propaganda sites were telling them those sites were saying.

"There was quid pro quo. Get over it."

an hour later: "The media is twisting my words! There was no quid pro quo!"

What a fucking train wreck of an administration
