I, for one, would still vote for Amarant over Sazh/Mog/Isaaru/etc., but any such final would be a blowout. GenesisSaga posted... Zidane's peak is like 15th in recent contests. An Amarant meme run can get past that. (Still won't be beating Vivi in ordinary circumstances.) Keep in mind that Edward is one of the weakest characters in the history of the contest, and Cecil and Rydia are still alive to suck up FF4 core votes... and he's not in any danger of going out soon.
