It's honestly disgusting how people are treating mental illness. People were afraid Mexicans were going to revolt when the Machete movie gets released. Falling Down and Hotline Miami didn't cause people go on violent sprees.

That is...
A good point.

Harley is a mentally unstable violent female.
She is literally just like the joker.

I think it's just more that people are sexually attracted to Harley Quinn.

The only bad thing about liking Harley is the ones supporting/longing for a relationship like she has with Joker.

In the movies Harley isn't portrayed as psychotic. Or really in any media.
Her "illness" isn't really touched upon like say Two-face or Riddler.
The problem is people are idolizing the relationship she has with Joker. In the cartoon were she was created, he'd routinely dump her, leave her to get taken by Bats, hit her, abuse her, etc.
All she craved was his affection.

The entire backstory is he more or less mentally manipluated her into falling for him and she's now obsessed.
In media it's portrayed as some sort of Morticia/Gomez relationship but in reality she's a victim.

In Birds of Prey./Suicide Squad (since they're more or less the same character exactly), she's just gonna be an anti-hero. Cut out the warped obsession she has with Joker and she's no different to anyone else other than Deadshot. Even with the Joker stuff, she's more like anyone else on the team with the exception of El Diablo and Katana.

She's a low level gangbanging criminal in the movies. Not a fucking serial killing psychopath like in the comics

It depends on if the girls are sexy. If they are, the same folks will get upset. Conversely, people on the opposite end of the spectrum will be mad if they aren't.

Idk. Incels will still be upset about a girl power movie even if the lead is hot.

I agree that her relationship with the joker was warped. but in the comics she actually did leave him finally, some years ago. like over a decade ago actually. she's been done with him for a while. every once in a while they meet again, but I don't think she has officially liked him in more than 10 years. last time I saw her meet him in the comics, was in a story called Death of the Family and I remember he tried to kill her I think.

I feel like the people who idolize Joker x Harley are the same people who long for a Romeo and Juliet romance.

Aka, girls who do not actually know about the subject at hand.

This started when they wanted to make Poison Ivy and her into heroes instead of villians because of their popularity.

Which is funny because, no matter how Ivy has changed, she literally has fed hundreds of people to plants.

Wait, Ivy? I can sort of understand Harley since The Joker was doing her sanity no favors, but didn't Pamela have issues on her own?

I don't read comics very often, I'm guessing they dropped the whole "Kill off humanity and restore Earth to it's true state" thing with her?

Comics change a lot over the years. Only a few things stay the same.
