for having an affair with another teacher. He was also an assistant coach for the football team. One of my facebook friends that was on the football team lamented that he didn't deserve to lose his job over it, especially since the other teacher got to keep her job after serving a week suspension. Other former football players chimed in supporting the coach but I honestly couldn't give a damn. I never liked that guy. He was condescending to anyone who didn't play football but he was even more of a dick if you played a sport that wasn't football.

I played baseball all four years of high school and when I had him for my freshmen P.E. class he constantly talked down to me and the baseball team. He always held the notion that football players were better caliber athletes than anyone else, even though our football team was one of the worst in our division. When I made varsity he told me, in front of a group of people including other teachers, that my accomplishment was worthless. Back then I was too quiet to stick up for myself so he got away with it.

My senior year of high school two players on our baseball team broke school records and the team ended with the third highest record of all time for our school. *subtle brag* I broke the record for most walk-off victories by a single player at 2, a double and a homer (a record that got broken the very next year when a kid hit 4 walk-offs). One of our pitchers had a record number of strikeouts that, as far as I know, still stands today. At the end of the year our school would give out awards to different sports or clubs. One of them was for Outstanding Team of the Year and it was rumored to be going to the baseball team but the P.E. teacher/coach flipped out about it (again, rumored) so the award went to the marching band.

My parents told me he's been in trouble for controversial behavior before so this must have been the final straw.

They might be, but baseball players probably have less CTE than football players so who's the real winner here

Aside from the rare fastball to the dome, head contact is rare in today's baseball so I'd agree.

My towns hs gym teacher quit recently because it was found out he was changing numbers/stats of the football team.

Was probably going to be mega fucked if he stayed

I had to play football for two years for my athletic director to start a lacrosse team so I feel you.

I then transferred to play hockey (since it wasnt at my school) and two years after I graduated the program was closed to give funding to football...

We didnt even have a good football program, we werent even competitive in CIF. My last year of hockey we won the first CIF title in any sport for our district in 25 years. Then gave our funding to the program that consistently loses in the first round of playoffs.

Unfortunately football, being as popular as it is, probably made more money for the school than hockey or lacrosse. When I was in school the baseball team was basically a skeleton crew while the football team was overflowing with kids wanting to play, despite the terrible coaching.

There has been an update. He was forced to resign while she is on a probation period (idk how long). Basically the slightest hiccup from her and she's gone. I'm hearing that she's a very good teacher which explains part of the leniency.

High School coaches have some of the biggest egos out there. Even my baseball coach could be a prick but he usually apologized later.
