The issue is that they act like they fought the Imperial Japanese in WWII and even produce tons of media every year portraying them as fighting the Japanese off themselves while the actual government doing the fighting at the time (current government of Taiwan descends from this) was just corrupt and evil. It's not to say the government wasn't also doing bad things back then, but they just get a simple communism good, liberalism bad version of history. Their history is completely white washed to create nationalism and it works really well as indicated by the frightening messages I get on WeChat from my girlfriend's relatives.

One of the key differences in the US being criticizing the government or talking about all the bad things it does won't land you in jail. In fact it's the standard view in much of academia in the US. But if you can stop talking about the US for a bit, we can maybe go back to talking about China.

Early in the war they did a decent amount of fighting. Sometimes more effectively than nationalist troops, sometimes less. Once it became pretty clear that Japan was going to lose they began to conserve manpower and resources for the coming was against the nationalists.

I live in Japan as does my girlfriend. She just happens to be Chinese and so I talk to her family in China on WeChat and have also visited them there. I speak Japanese and Chinese in addition to English. I'm not an expert on Asian politics and policies and I never claimed my girlfriend of all things would make me one. This is a really weird take. Especially with your random I'm anti-Asian image. As if anti-Asian was even a real position. In case you didn't know most Asians most hated people are other Asians. The monolithic group of Asians idea is distinctly American. Japanese, Korean, and Chinese people do not consider themselves the same.
