If I get a SATA to usb cord will I be able to recover my files or ok I need to do something special? I got a lot of music and pictures of me from high school on there Id prefer not to lose.

But at least from what I can tell, in theory it should work. Double check it's a SATA HDD, and I think those USB to SATA cables (make sure it has power too) should do the trick. Obviously if you've used some kindof device encryption or Bitlocker type solution you'd need to get through that too. --- If you can understand this, I'm 2/cosC for you. ... Copied to Clipboard!

As long as the drive isn't encrypted you should be able to get to the files, at worst you'll just have to change permissions.

If it's not encrypted or doesn't have mechanical problems you'll be able to get your data.
