I feel like a lot of people serving live in prison would likely rather be dead, but it's not up to me to decide their fate. Even if one is overturned and they turn out innocent, the blood is on my hands. I'd pass.

Nope. Up to 2% of death row is likely innocent, as we're finding out as DNA evidence becomes more reliable. $1 mill isn't that much money, really.
