I remember when kids would dress up like their favourite characters for the Harry Potter premier I was working at.

Now we get... grown men attempting to dress up as their idol, a fucking psychotic serial killer

It's probably to prevent people from feeling too uncomfortable. Is that bad?

Within the context of preventing people from dressing up as versions of the main character in the movie they're all going to see? Yeah, it kind of is.

If the people going to a show legitimately feel less safe based on whether the potential shooters around them are in costume or not, then that is a level of paranoia really not worth pandering to.

It harms no one by restricting the use of joker costumes, while it likely gives other people more peace of mind. Harmless act that makes others feel better. That is fine no matter what you wanna argue tbh

You should not be reinforcing restriction of harmless acts based on peace of mind, because the acts themselves are harmless. This isn't like trying to keep spiders out of a place the treats arachnophobia. It's people dressing up as Joker to go to a Joker movie.

Hey, it would give me peace of mind if you stopped posting. Since it harms no one for you to stop, and you seem to think this is a good line of reasoning, why don't you just go ahead and do that.

Get GameFAQs to ban me then if youre so butthurt. Because thats more akin to the Joker banning than your shit analogy.

Pick any hobby you have, any one, and I can find at least one example of where someone would be mildly uncomfortable and you would vehemently disagree with a ban due to the exact same reasoning.

Banning people dressing like Joker at a Joker movie because it would make somebody uncomfortable is dumb, and I think you know that which is why you haven't even made a cursory attempt to explain how it isn't.

Hell, frisbee seems to think that this exact same reasoning was used for Black Panther screenings and if it was, it was dumb then too. I'd even bet money that you would have agreed with him.

You want to show me where the FBI or the US Army determined that the threat comes from people dressing like the Joker? If your concern is incels, then that one theater that's doing a couples-only opening night seems like a more effective strategy than this.

The theater chain is taking steps to make its general moviegoers feel safe. If that steams some peas with hardcore Joker fans, they should join the fight with progressives against those who created the environment for such a restriction to be implemented in the first place.
