I tried taking an art class at the Art Students League, but the classes there are all near 4 hours. One I went to started at 8:45 am and finished at 12:30.

generally, yea, but i guess it depends on the structure. I've taken lab classes that were scheduled for about 3 to 3 and half hours, first hour being lecture, and the rest of the time being a lab. you could leave when you were done so most days i wasn't there for the entire 3 hours.

Yes. The only exception I can think of is if it's a one-and-done.

Do you get any break formal/informal? And is it really full on the whole time/early finish?

i took a 4hr class once, it had a break in the middle and the class moved much faster than an average paced one. it's not a big deal

Depends on how many days a week you have to attend. You can have a single 3 hou night class which is the same as a 1 hour class 3 days a week.

They were fine. In, out, five days a week. Real fast.

No breaks. It meets 5 days a week but the instructor is there for just two of those days.

It's a figure drawing class with a focus on anatomy. In actuality though, you draw for a few munutes, the instructor starts critiquing a student's drawing and everyone else stops drawing and gathers around to listen to the instructor for the remaining 3 hours 20 minutes.

Yeah I think 2 hours is a good amount. Most art classes are about 3 hours but start feeling tiresome around the 2 hour mark.
