I can't argue - whilst I've had ups and downs, I know that my life is blessed so instead of moping about any upsets along the way, I strive to make the most of it and not take anything for granted.

It is 100% unfair.

What did I do to be born in this era where the common man lives better than kings of history? What did some poor mother fucker do to be born a peasant in medieval ages? Nothin, that's what. Complete and total luck of the draw.

Bill Gates born in the 20th century? Creates Microsoft and becomes richest man in the world. Bill Gates born in medieval age? Dies in some field of pneumonia. Guy got lucky. He earned his wealth, yeah, but he still got lucky.

I feel sorry for poor fucks born a hundred years from now.

do you think you need to be extremely wealthy to raise the best kids or something?

Like, millions of kids get raised and have been raised through history in less than ideal situations, most turn out fine. Like, people in general are pretty resilient

It's a financial drain on parents though and often parents dont have the savings for retirement because of raising kids. My dad for instance is still working past retirement age and he just did a reverse mortgage on his house.

I agree kids are a financial drain, but it's not something you have to be "extremely wealthy" to do. Well, assuming you're not trying to raise like a bunch of them

True, and you could even argue that the best people often come from the worst childhoods. But on the other hand, if you have kids and one or some of them dont turn out right, youd have to feel guilty like my parents did.

I think financially stable with some contingency is a better way of looking at what I'd feel is to be a good 'prerequisite'. (in addition to the emotional maturity/stable home/etc)

They're all factors yeah, but I dont know about "just as much". I would have died as a baby if I had been born in any other age. No amount of bootstraps would have made me successful then.

Even kings weren't immune being stillborns, diseases, betrayal, nor rebellions either and getting hung or their heads chopped off if they pissed off those peasants you spoke off enough. I bet you wouldn't have wanted to be in their shoes then.

Well yeah that's kinda my point too. I'm not talking born wrong class, I'm talking born wrong time period. I'd rather be a normal dude in today's age than be a king in ancient times.
