That's my favorite "one hit wonder" that never got a sequel or spinoff.

Criminally overlooked Genesis game, likely due to being released so late in the console's life, but on the plus side of being released so late, it had some of the best graphics/music on the system, creative level design that never got stale or repetitive, an interesting universe and characters, and plenty of replayability with its "secret bonus point" system.

It has that tragic weirdness that seems to be in all games by Flair Software...

Only it was made by Treasure. Treasure does great variations on a theme... so Dynamite Headdy is kinda like their way of making a Flair Software game.

It's a translation from the Japanese version of the game, which was mocking the notion of sequels. Treasure HATES sequels. Dynamite Headdy was planned on being a one-off game, as well as each and every one of their games from the get-go. Only Gunstar Heroes got a sequel on Game Boy Advance for unknown reasons.

And I am unsure why Sega didn't outright buy Treasure to begin with, seeing how they both had a strong relationship.
