I mean, sure, they can do whatever they want. There are dollar theaters all over the place that screen old movies. As long as the owner of the work agrees to the arrangement, which generally just means enough money.

But it's not particularly common, and you don't have much chance of just happening to find it playing near you, and if you want to try to rent out a theater, I shudder to think how much it costs lol.
