In the current balance of power, unions become bloated to the point they collapse the industry and everyone loses their jobs.

Also, union leaders really don't give a crap about the worker, it's purely a business for self profit for them. They gladly take money under the table so businesses don't get harassed by unions.

Unless it's a government job or the business has a monopoly where they literally can't go out of business.

not all of them, just the ones who arent lazy as shit. the idea of having your schedule, hours, and pay tied to seniority rather than performance is detrimental for anyone who actually has the drive to work, learn, and advance.

I've never been a part of a union, so I can't speak for them now, but I believe they were essential in the past

I work at a grocery store and make $13.50 an hour. I get health insurance from them, job security that's so good people complain about workers that can't be fired. The special needs people have job security and can't be discriminated against. The fees are negligible.

I love unions. There are people in my store who complain about the union's existence and I make fun of them, then I get other people to make fun of them, because frankly those people are dumb as hell.

The lazy employees are typically fired in my union, but even that goes too far, because I've seen people targeted by incompetent management for having medical issues and time off, so my union needs to be stronger. The new boss is such a dick, he refuses to talk to employees and generally treats us like assets. He's buddies with the union rep, the union rep who literally responds to a complaint about our boss with "I've known Ray for a long time, and he would never do that."

It's nice when your boss cares... but when he doesn't, he's generally going to do his best to take advantage of you, and excuses his actions by telling himself he's better than everyone else.
