You mean a Nintendo online family plan? I don't have a family plan myself so I'm not sure the differences but it should extend your sub by 3 months for free. So example for me:

-Already have Amazon prime sub (which include twitch prime)
-Already have Nintendo online single payer sub, billed 9/2019 and next payment 9/2020
-Linked my amazon and nintendo together and now my next payment will be billed 12/2020

Anyone can use the link to link their prime and nintendo together, but the 3 months offer ends today I'm told

Nah once you make the link it just automatically applies a +3 month credit to your sub, no code or anything :(

I think you can do less than a month free, cancel before you get charged, and keep the 3 month Nintendo online sub. I didn't look too hard into it though since I have free Prime.
