Why did Charlie win the factory? He made a mistake similar to the other kids, but because it was escapable he wins?

When Willy Wonka said "You get nothing", that was code for Charlie being condemned to repeat Willy Wonka's decision to live in a junk food plant forever and get closer than anyone else to seeing what that does to someone.
He also improvises this decision on the spot because nobody steals fizzy lifting drinks and gets away with it, the rest of the tour was just Gene Wilder breaking character and trying to defame Willy Wonka by making him a murderer.

Exactly. He showed that even after losing and having a reason to be upset, that he still did the right thing and gave it back, throwing away what he thought was a chance to get a shut ton of money. Even though he made a mistake he proved he was still a good person.

How do we know the other kids wouldn't have returned it if they got out of their predicaments?

Maybe they fixed the kids already. And then told the kids they lost and had to go home. And then they sold them. I think they all got the same deal, right?

The guy pretending to be Slugworth is shown talking to the other kids earlier in the movie. So it's safe to assume they were all given the same test and the rest of the kids failed it.

When though? The other kids don't show up again after their incidents, and Wonka is in the film the whole time, so there isn't a point where they could have failed off screen.

They wouldn't need to see Wonka, just Slugworth. They could have been fixed and booted out the back door where he was waiting for them.

Id guess less egregious screw up plus doing the right thing. Also, I dont recall exactly, but did Charlie suggest sneaking off to the fizzy drink room, or was it Grandpa Joe? If it was the latter, than you also have a stronger case for him just generally not being a brat compared to the other 4.

On screen. He could have been given one as a condolence prize, to see what he'd do with it, after they rescued him from the chocolate tubes and kicked him out. Just because we don't see it doesn't mean it couldn't happen. They show us enough that with a little common sense we can fill in the blanks for ourselves.

This is why so much media is dumbed down for audiences because everyone needs the fucking plot spoonfed to them.
