My mouse isn't working. I'll give you all the details I can think of.

The other night I woke my computer up from sleep mode and the mouse wasn't working. Left click and right click function fine, but the cursor is invisible and won't move.

So I reset the computer. Upon boot, it just gets stuck at the motherboard "press del or f2 to enter bios" screen, then blacks out after 5 minutes and auto reboots, rinse and repeat

I had the idea to unplug my mouse and keyboard and then reboot the computer. I get a bios-looking screen telling me that there is an overclock error (something like that) which I found weird cuz I only have stock coolers and wouldn't overclock. I don't even know how.

Anyway I went into the bios and switched that feature from "on" to "auto" and then the computer was able to boot. Same problem with the mouse still though.

So I tried a diff mouse, one with a wire instead of wireless. No dice. Same prob. Tried all the usb ports and a usb hub, same problem still.

Deleted all my mouse drivers, reinstalled, still the same issue. Ran a virus scan, nothing. I can't really think of much else here. Any help would really be appreciated guys

Sorry that I can't give you actual advice but maybe try asking https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/ there?

I tried googling your problem but they all say to basically uninstall your drivers, but you already did that. :(

Here's the video I watched, maybe that guy did something different than what you did... maybe.

Sorry I couldn't be much of a help though

So your mouse won't work at all? Even in the bios?

Does it work on something else?
If you hav access to anothre computer and a USB storage (at least 4GB), aybe try making an Ubuntu boot drive and see how that gets you going on the current computer

I'd suggest doing two things first though
check if there's a way to set it to defaul optionsi n the bios (should exist) and if that still doesn't work, try checking the wires in the computer itself. One might have come loose

mouse doesn't work in bios either. its confirmed not the mouse's problem tho cuz i tried 3 so far and all have the same issue, meanwhile they worked fine on my bro's laptop

idk what ubuntu is, but i'll explore the bios some more. good idea

Ubuntu is an operating system like Windows
My suggestion was that if it's worrking in the bios then it might be the Windows issue but it seems like it's not Windows if it's not working in the bios.

You've tried other USB ports right?

Sounds like a hardware problem since it doesn't even work in the BIOS, so Linux won't help

Other than pulling out the BIOS battery for a minute to reset the BIOS completely, your motherboard may be beginning to fail starting with the USB controller.

I pull the battery every time I set bad overclocks. The only drawback is having to spend several minutes correcting the settings every time I do so since the settings all revert to the defaults.

But computer parts beginning to fail after only a year is bad luck, but hopefully your PC's warranty is still good.

The only thing I can recommend is backing up your files and doing a fresh install of windows. Hopefully it's not your motherboard dying.

You might be able to do something through the device manager in the control panel. But what, I don't know.
